Our Story
Cambria Shores Inn has been in our family for the past 40 plus years. We had the opportunity to purchase the property in February of 1999 after moving from Bend, Oregon to Cayucos, California. Our late Uncle Jack and Aunt Pat Dinsmore owned and operated the Inn in the late 1970’s. It changed hands several times over the next two decades. We fell in love with the location and spirit of the property. It needed TLC and we completely renovated it in two phases completing the project in 2010. We kept it single level with a simple ranch style feel. Most all of the rooms have an ocean view. We furnished the rooms in coastal colors and natural finishes. Fossilized limestone counters and hearths were used as well as pebbled onyx flooring in sandy shade. A local craftsman handmade our furniture and headboards from Monterey Cypress. Our beautiful landscape was designed and planted by our son Nick Wilkinson, owner of Grow Nursery in downtown Cambria and Botanical Nova a landscape company. The gardens have been featured in Sunset magazine and boast spectacular ocean and sunset views from our iconic Adirondacks! It has been a joy working with our family over the years to make this spot on Earth so special. All of our sons and their families live in Los Osos and Cayucos. They each have businesses that benefit our communities. Nick’s wife Kara works as a graphic designer for Cal Poly SLO, they have 2 sons, Cruz and Indy. Patrick is a Commercial Real Estate Broker. His wife Kristen is a business consultant, they have 2 sons, Phoenix and Everest. Sean and his wife Naomi own Illuminate Spa and Boutique in Cayucos and they have a daughter, Opal. Sean managed the Inn for many years before becoming a professional barber. Their love, support and fresh ideas keep the Inn looking up-to-date, vibrant and unique.
Over the years our guests and their four-legged family have enriched our dreams of having an Inn with a sense and feel of home away from home. Whether you have a dog or not, you will experience the beauty of unconditional love. Please join our “Family” here at Cambria Shores Inn and accept our invitation to experience what it’s like to be warmly cared for.
We look forward to many more years to care for this special property and welcome you with open arms.
